If you aren’t waiting eagerly for each of Pundita’s new posts, you really should be. Intelligent, well-informed, nicely written. And (apparently) insider info. Good stuff.
I’d like to add my two cents to some of Pundita’s observations in a recent post, Pundita is not Wonkette (way too much substance for one thing).
But without going into gory detail, you need to stop and think about the people you elect to represent you in Congress. Why do you elect them? For their ability to plow daily through 200 page reports with footnotes on geopolitical situations? For their ability to analyze and synthesize data in a flash? Or so they could sit on congressional foreign relations, defense and intel committees?
Well, I’ve always thought that sitzfleisch was the most important credential for a Congressman. At this point I’m cynical but resigned about Congressmen. I’ve never been represented by a Congressman who even vaguely represented my convictions or positions. The most I hope for now is a good, principled person. One of the saddest days of my life was when I was re-districted from Jan Schakowski’s district into Rahm Emmanuel’s.
But we’ll make an exception this one time, just for Dave Schuler, and dedicate the next two essays to an attempt to haul the critics into the 21st Century.
I’m touched. Sincerely. For me one of the most important reasons for reading and writing blogs and stimulating discussion among bloggers is to learn something. It’s the same reason that I took high level math and economics in college (lo! those many years ago) rather than restricting myself to classes on material I’d already covered. I wanted to learn more. And that’s the reason I read Pundita, too.
