Who Are Our NATO Allies?

The Turkey that joined NATO had not been a U. S. ally during World War II. It had been neutral. It was a multi-party democracy, punctuated by military coups every few years.

At what point does Turkey cease being the country that joined NATO and become a different country? It’s well on its way to becoming an Islamist despotism, not Ataturk’s republic at all.

We have no permanent alliances only permanent interests.

Well, if Turkey is cozying up to Russia it will mesh perfectly with our new foreign policy, best explained as, “Whatever Putin wants.”

I’m telling you, and you are all free to dismiss it – as people generally do until 6 months later – this is more than a bromance. Putin owns Trump. I don’t know what he has, but whatever it is, it means the leader of a hostile power has the president’s balls in his pocket.

Turkey actually did participate in the Korean War. However, in the last 20 years they have fallen under the influence of the Islamists. I would be OK with kicking them out of NATO now, but need the nukes out first.

What’s the price of tin foil these days, Michael?

What Steve said. Plus Erdogan has Merkel by the figurative balls – he extorted 6 billion in return for helping with the refugee crisis. How are the Germans going to support kicking Turkey out?

The point was passed when Turkey decided to facilitate folks all over the world to go to Isis U as part of its Syrian policy.

Much less expensive than denial, Drew.

If one percent of this Putin bullshit was attached to Obama you’d be screaming ‘treason’ at the top of your lungs. But the traitor is white and a flaming racist asshole and promising you some dollars, so of course you now have no problem with treason. Morality can be so wonderfully flexible when you have no integrity.

Treason, Drew. That’s what it is when an American politician encourages a foreign actor to commit crimes to aid in his own rise to power. Treason is what you call it when an American attacks his own intelligence agencies while praising a foreign dictator. Treason is what you call it when a president-elect signals pre-emptive surrender on NATO. Your legal but illegitimate president is traitor.

  • “Storing” nuclear weapons in Turkey is as stupid a move as we’re presently engaged in.

the “physics packages” helped maintain the balance of terror that is MAD. However, moving things, whose presence in Turkey, we neither affirm or deny to some congenial spot, say, increasingly authoritarian (but staunchly anti Russian) Poland or Hungary might be wise.

Before we disband the old cool kids club and create a new one, maybe we should come to a consensus about what America’s interests are. At present, it seems to be whatever will win votes.

I believe there were several conservatives who attacked intelligence agencies about the WMDs before the Iraq War, charging correctly they were lying, under pressure perhaps, but lying still. One would be Pat Buchanan. Another Ron Paul.
I guess they should have been interned until the Kay findings were released.
Russia? I just read a crank’s charge that the Moon of Alabama blog is being scrutinized by the Borg because its goal is to turn the U.S. into a “vassal state of Russia.”
Here’s the simple fact: the US should have cleared out of the Mideast
many decades ago. No aid, no troops-to any party.
The Lobby wouldn’t have it, and the others simply ride the Zionist tiger to war profits and oil profits and nothing profiting the average American.
And again. The more traditional right the European political party, the more pro-Russian. And the more anti-American. They meet the far left in that regard.
Of course coming home and maintaining enough military strength to protect our borders, (from an unlikely in that event invasion)
is “treason.” If you’re a champion of the World Police State.

    Ken:

Oh, cut the crap. This is not about criticism, it’s about aiding and abetting.

Show me where any Democrat ever has publicly requested that the autocrat of a hostile power should task his intelligence agency with illegally breaking into an opponent’s email.

I won’t even go into the rest of it, just explain that.

The DNC hierarchy is the hostile power.
