What should happen is that Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Michael Bloomberg should all drop out and throw their support to Joe Biden. Unfortunately, there is nothing in any of their backgrounds that would suggest they will do any such thing.
We’ll see within the next several days. Bloomberg may start running anti-Trump spots rather than pro-Bloomberg spots. Warren actually might drop out. The questions then will be to whom she throws her support and what those who presently support her do.
I have said for some time that the strongest Democratic ticket would be Joe Biden/Cory Booker. I still think so.
Agree that they should all drop out. Klobuchar and Buttigieg clearly did the right thing for the party by doing that. Too bad the Republicans hadn’t done that. We might have avoided Trump. I actually think Warren will drop out. Not sure whom she would endorse. My guess is that she meets privately with Biden and negotiates for influence on the party platform and/or a cabinet position.
The other possibility is Warren as VP to draw in the left wing of the party. Bernie just wont work but she might. Booker is a better long term solution but just for this election she might work.

That would be the savvy thing to do. Hillary redux. If Biden’s elected, it will be darned hard to claim she’s too old for the job in 2024 (or even 2028).
That had occurred to me as well. That’s a judgment call I would not care to make. As suggested above I think the all-round best thing case, both for the party and for the country, would be for Biden to call it quits after one term. Having Warren, Booker, and Buttigieg in his cabinet would set things up nicely.
Having Warren, Booker, and Buttigieg:
That’s three stars for diversity, which is our strength, amen.
Leaving the party to scrap over female, black or gay. Diversity is no strength, but Democrats are stuck with it so they have to be boosters.
If I were advising Sanders – keep running because the actuarial books say it is non-zero chance that the meteor hits and the Democrats need another candidate.
As for Warren, she has 0 chance to be VP. Warren will quit anyway since she has no money. Like it or not, Biden’s VP choice will be scrutinized a lot more more then usual – again because of the actuarial tables.
Elizabeth Warren has always been seen to occupy the far left lane with Bernie Sanders. So, it would be logical to throw her support to an ideological teammate. But, Warren is a 100% self-service candidate, so will probably play what cards she still holds in a way benefiting her the most.
I think if Biden proves to be the physical placeholder for the dem nominee he will select a dominating young black woman, in order to check all the boxes that would appease a hard left base.
