I just finished watching the second season of Bosch on Amazon. Although Titus Welliver continues to be solid in the title role, I didn’t think that the series quite lived up to the standard set by the first season and one of the reasons is direction. There’s too much mugging by the other cast members and there was one too many long, silent shots on Jeri Ryan’s rear end as she walks away from the camera. I also didn’t see much point in the family drama aspect of this season.
Tonight I’ll probably start streaming the second season of Daredevil. For my money it’s the best made-for-streaming series so far.
I like Daredevil, but the writers are too quick to fall back on torture to make a plot point work. It’s lazy. They can do better.
I liked Jessica Jones a lot as well in the comic book category, and Gotham. Supergirl, Flash and S.H.I.E.L.D. don’t work for me, despite some good stuff.
