I need to preface this post, as I generally do, with the observation that I did not vote for Donald Trump in 2016 or 2020 and I do not plan to vote for him in 2024. There are multiple reasons including that I do not believe he is able to deliver but for me the main reason is character. I simply do not believe it is possible to be in the real estate business in New York City without shading the law at least a bit.
With respect to the various cases against Mr. Trump making their way through the courts, I am content, as usual, to let the legal system take its course. I don’t think the outcome in any of the trials is a slam-dunk or predetermined. That has left me without a lot of room for commentary.
I do have one question, however. What will the Democrats do if Trump gets through ALL of the trials without being convicted of anything?

With all due respect, I think that’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen you write. (And that’s a rare event). Who are these politicians of high character of whom you speak- Kennedy and his rum running dad, banging everything in sight, LBJ, Nixon,Ford (who knows), Carter (probably) Reagan (probably, but IC might affect some views), the Bushes, the Clintons (chortle, wheeze) , Obama (oh, please) and 10% for the Big Guy Biden??? Am I to understand you have only voted once in my lifetime?
Do we want to talk about gold bars in the closet now? How about Ed Burke or John Madigan? I know you couldn’t have voted for Nancy Pelosi, but golly gosh, her investment acumen sure makes Warren Buffet look like a member of the ladies Thursday night investment club…..
Neither the system nor the players lend themselves to your litmus test. WTF Dave.
As to your question.
1 They will invent more legalities.
2 They will blame every policy failure on Trump, facts be damned. After all, that’s what they do now. They need, and will rely, on media for that. So far, pretty good strategy. It’s just that first hand gas pump and grocery store thingy.
3. Free beer for everyone.
4. More free beer. It’s been Joe’s MO for years.
There’s a difference between convicting Trump before the Nov elections and that Trump won’t be convicted at any of the trials.
Trumps strategy after the New York trial seems iffy — it relies on winning in November and firing Jack Smith. But it won’t kill the Georgia trial (or potentially an Arizona trial), at most it freezes those until 2029. It also won’t prevent the next Democratic President from reactivating the charges (unless Trump self pardons). And winning in November means Trump will have legal liabilities from his 2nd term in office.
@Curious, one of the legal issues still to be resolved is whether Jack Smith was properly appointed as special counsel. There will be an argument next month in the mishandling of classified documents case about whether the indictment should be quashed. I have no idea how good this argument is, and it goes into a lot of details about how Smith’s appointment in particular came about and how it differed from other special counsel situations. But one scenario might be the federal indictments disappear before the election for want might appear to be a mistake by Garland in instigating the investigations (including the delay caused in making the special appointment).
I’ve not followed the Georgia case soap opera, but three out of four could be at least temporarily stopped by prosecutorial conduct.
Rick Hasen thinks the Stormy Daniels case is probably a misdemeanor at best, though I don’t know whether that is something the jury can decide or whether it would be a reduction in the sentence given by the judiciary afterwards.
The documents case in particular is pretty clearly a case where Trump is guilty, though like any case I guess they can find some technicality to get him off. Most likely event is that cases are delayed until after he is elected. Anyway, if he is not convicted before election Dems will just have to run an election race like they have been doing.
I dont think you have to limit it to his real estate deals, there are was also Trump University and the numerous real estate deals where he was sued for non-payment.

Pretty clearly guilty of not being a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory”.
PD, my retort is the propriety of Jack Smith’s appointment was improper is immaterial, his indictments or new indictments can be restarted whenever Trump leaves office again and doesn’t have Presidential immunity). Democrats have their man and they will find the crime.
Sure, but I would argue that what happens before the election and why is important in and of itself. If two or three indictments are dismissed for legal/ethical issues, there might be a different perception of what’s going on with Trump than if the cases are still pending.
Biden refuses to leave office, declares himself the winner, arrest the trader Trump. Rounds up all the MEGA crowd. Reorganizes SCOTUS, on and on..just to name a few things that could happen, not likely though but it could happen.
“Pretty clearly guilty of being willing to portray himself as a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory”. That’s what the report actually said.
In one case you have a guy who willingly cooperated to give documents back and allow searches. OTOH you have a guy who lied about having documents, tried to hide them and did not cooperate in returning them. I would bet near every POTUS accidentally took some classified stuff. I would also bet that all of those others would return them if they knew they were there or if asked.
