What Can I Say?

What can I say about the five pipebomb-containing packages sent to George Soros, Hillary Clinton, President Obama, John Brennan, and Eric Holder? Here’s the FBI’s statement:

Between October 22 and 24, 2018, suspicious packages were received at multiple locations in the New York and Washington, D.C., areas and Florida. The packages are being sent for analysis at the FBI Laboratory in Quantico, Virginia.

“This investigation is of the highest priority for the FBI. We have committed the full strength of the FBI’s resources and, together with our partners on our Joint Terrorism Task Forces, we will continue to work to identify and arrest whoever is responsible for sending these packages,” said FBI Director Christopher Wray. “We ask anyone who may have information to contact the FBI. Do not hesitate to call; no piece of information is too small to help us in this investigation.”

[…]

The packages were mailed in manila envelopes with bubble wrap interior. The packages were affixed with computer-printed address labels and six Forever stamps. All packages had a return address of “DEBBIE WASSERMAN SHULTZ” [sic] in Florida. Packages identified to date were addressed to:

  • George Soros
  • Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
  • Former President Barack Obama
  • Former CIA Director John Brennan, care of CNN
  • Former Attorney General Eric Holder

The package addressed to former Attorney General Holder did not reach its intended destination, but was rerouted to the return address in Florida.

Don’t do it. Don’t make excuses for it. Don’t get ahead of the reports.

What else is there to say?

I would suggest criticizing Rush Limbaugh.

  • I have never listened to Rush Limbaugh, have no interest in doing so, and don’t intend to start listening to him.

The right is convinced it is a false flag attack. The left thinks it is Trump’s alter ego. I think we should just wait and see.

  • I think we should just wait and see.

That’s certainly what I think. Everybody seems to be getting far ahead of the story.

You can’t say much. And clearly no conclusions. It’s way too early. At best you can only make a couple observations.

Those who know bombs have remarked that they are amateurish efforts. It opens up the possibility they weren’t intended to go off, just create a stir. Or, that this “bombmaker” is not part of a capable organization.

Second, the reaction of the political and chattering classes is interesting. Trump and Pence, among others, have unambiguously denounced it and pledged all required resources to investigate it. Many Democrat politicians and media types have immediately gone for political gain, implicating Trump.

That’s all there is right now.

    I would say two things:

    – Domestic political violence should be unequivocally condemned.
    – Those who equivocate on the legitimacy of such violence, or who promote the view that political adversaries are enemies that can’t be compromised with, share responsibility for such acts.

” have never listened to Rush Limbaugh, have no interest in doing so, and don’t intend to start listening to him.”
Not even a taste? To form your own opinion? Someone else has made your mind up for you.

  • I wouldn’t venture an opinion on him without listening. Since I haven’t listened, I won’t venture an opinion. There is only so much time; one can’t do everything or listen to everybody.

Well, I can tell you he’s very repetitive. His “show prep” consists entirely of clicking on the Drudge Report. He wraps himself in the flag while turning every issue into an attack on (truely) hypocritical liberals, or his favorite target, the “mainstream media” who he clearly detests and sees as his competitors in the commentosphere.
But his real business is selling advertising and increasing audience which complements shows like “The View”. They comment on his comments and verse visa both adding inertia to their mutual business, which is ad revenue.

  • I don’t watch “The View”, either.

How do you know “Whats trending now”?

    I finally agree with Steve!

Not to make too much light of a serious situation, but this guy is the quintessential “Florida Man.”
