The Worst Case

I mentioned what I think the best case scenario of a Biden presidency would be but not the worst case. I think the worst case would be his removal on 25th Amendment grounds within the first year of his presidency.

I think multiple invocations of the 25th amendment; or needing to apply the 20th instead of the 25th amendment would be worse.

A worst case IMO would be a declared Biden victory before the votes are all tabulated whether or not the trend is his way, a swearing in of Biden by a rump SC and Congress (or even two swearings in), followed by at least an attempted forcible removal of OMB from the White House by the military ordered by the ‘Biden’ administration (or even before). I fully expect there will be claims of a Biden victory on November 3, because that will give the Democrats over two months to beat the drum of ‘get the illegal President out before he illegally seizes power’. If I sound cynical and depressed, it is because I am. The Democrats seem to be fully committed to stealing the election or seizing power if they somehow fail to win the vote because the prospects of not having the Presidency are unthinkable.

If they were so assured of victory, why the hysterical push for blast mail voting? People have been waiting in lines in grocery stores (and other stores) for months now without notable danger. Even the Revered Dr. Fauci has stated that voting in person is OK with proper safeguards. The recent elections and primaries in New York, New Jersey, and elsewhere and the huge numbers of spoiled and undeliverable ballots, plus your own observations as a former election judge, show that massive fraud is a distinct (and likely) probability. It’s the same attitude they have towards voter ID and fighting cleaning voter roles; can’t question the probity of voters, election officials, and voter rolls! That would be racist!

I think that despite the results of the wargaming that’s somewhat less likely than the scenario I presented.

It would be a huge shit-show if Biden died after the election but before the Electoral College vote, especially if the EC count it close. The party would have to find an alternative candidate that would appeal to enough electors. If that didn’t happen, it would get thrown to the house where the winner would get decided by state delgations. I haven’t check recently, but I think the GOP has the advantage in terms of state delegations even though the House is controlled by Democrats.

So Biden could win, but Trump could still get another term.

Worst case is that he encourages the party to dump the filibuster and tries and succeeds in passing some of the more radical proposals. Odds are close to zero, even lower than Tarkas fantasy, that it happens but it would be bad.

Talk of Biden dying at an inopportune time makes me think of a more likely scenario, his incapacitation. Stroke, lingering Covid infection, a fall with concussion or hip fracture. A campaign that attempts to distract or minimize his condition so that voters are unsure of his capacity.
If he doesn’t walk out and debate unassisted three times this fall I’ll presume he can’t. Or has doubts that he can.
