The Warning

By comparison Bill Scher, also writing at RealClearPolitics, gives a timely warning:

No matter what happens on Election Day, tens of millions of Americans are going feel like they got punched in the gut.

He thinks as I do that Trump supporters will be the ones experiencing the gut punch. If it’s Clinton supporters I can’t even imagine the implications.

I’ve heard lots of brave noises over the last couple of days about national reconciliation in the aftermath of the election. Do either of the presidential candidates strike you as people who are gracious in defeat? Or in victory for that matter?

I heard some of the talking heads yesterday talking about Hillary Clinton forming a national unity government following her victory. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a bigger load of codswollop. There was no reconciliation following Barack Obama’s victory in 2008 and he’d run in part on reconciliation. Blame it on who you will but there was no reconciliation.

But I’ll play along. How would each of the candidates go about “healing the nation’s wounds” after her or his victory? I can’t see it but I’ll listen to those who see more clearly than I.

There’s no point in playing along, and the speculation is useless. There won’t be any healing of the divisions.

  • I agree with you but I’m always eager to learn.

The best case I can make is for exhaustion. No one can keep up fever pitch forever, so there’ll perhaps be a few months of, “Thank God that’s over.” But there will be no kumbaya moment.

The best I can hope for Trump is that he will delegate and leave the sausage making of laws to others, but I fear his ego will suck him into fight after fight with congressmen and senators whose egos are as big as his, therefore, a noisy, squabaling stalemate.

Starting to look to me though that he will not win, as even George W’s Former campaign staff are working against him. Everyone who make their living at the Washington teat fears Trump because they cannot predict or control him.

It makes no difference that HRC has baggage, drinks too much, sells out the country for cash, She’s on their leash and will ultimately do their will.
Will the country come together to celebrate the election of the first female president?
No, but in the media it will appear so, that’s the narrative.
Trump supporters will be angry but powerless as they have always been, but they have no power so they will just bitch.
Get used to her, my radio has an off button and I don’t watch T V.

I do remember in 2008 that Obama promised a unity Government, Best minds, whatever party, Just pol bullshit, everyone on his team was from citibank, goldman sachs, or were already fellow Alinskyites from Chicago, including The Missus Clinton .
Has anyone given any thought who Trump would bring in?
Does he even have friends and associates?

There WAS reconciliation after Obama won. He had the hard core of his movement disbanded and folded into the DNC, and made peace with the Cheney/Bush/Perle/Wolfowitz crowd right away. Also with the Wall Street Banksters, but his vote for the bailout had signaled that
beforehand. Did I mention reconciliation with Big Pharma and Big Insurance as well?
