The Uvalde Shooter

The most comprehensive and succinct consideration of the character of the Uvalde shooter I have run across has been in this piece in the Spanish newspaper El País. He has more things in common with other perpetrators of previous school shootings than that he used a gun.

He was bullied, was quiet and had no social skills. A lot like other shooters but still so vague and common it wont help much in identifying future shooters. There really isn’t much to discuss here. We could do some stuff at the margins to decrease this. We could even do really drastic things to stop it. Reality is we wont do anything. After shootings there are no restrictions on gun controls that are increased, we just see more relaxation of gun laws. Shootings have happened in schools with guards and only one entrance. This is just going to keep happening.

At this point we should just be building memorials honoring the brave children who have sacrificed their lives so that we can all maintain the right to bear arms.

Stories out lately that the Mexican government is filling suit against American gun manufacturers for the damage inflicted there by American guns.
It’s acknowledged that the suits are probably hopeless but isn’t that how it began with cigarettes?
Cities with strict laws on gun control could be sued by victims for their failure to enforce their laws.
In a situation no one likes that has no obvious solution, why not try liability?
We have a surplus of both guns and lawyers.
Gun owners could also be found negligent if guns stolen from them were used in crimes.

A classmate of the Uvalde shooter said he was not bullied in school, and was actually the one bullying others. He killed animals, was anti social and somehow attained the skill sets of someone “trained” in the handling of firearms. Perhaps he achieved said training thru watching and learning from violent video games. All of these characteristics have been found in other young men who turned into insensitive killers.

Also, serious questions are being asked about the ever-changing time line of events happening that day, shinning more intense light and blame on the mishandling of an active shooter situation than on the need for more gun control measures. Finally, where and how did this 18 year old finance the purchases of rifles, hand gun and the expensive ammunition needed to carry out these murders – something like a 100 rounds of bullets. There are far too many questions to be asked and then honestly answered before people head into layering more laws and restrictions on gun ownership, which would effect lawful gun owners more than those with malevolent intent to do harm.

You guys really dont know about google do you? Just google youtube for any question you have about guns. You can find a video on pretty much everything. Most of them are pretty well done and helpful. Wish I had looked at the ones on my .22 before I bought it.

By report, you can buy guns from Daniel Defense, where the kid bought the guns, on the installment plan, spreading out the costs. They probably got only their first payment. Since this happened in Texas I think the most likely response is that Texas passes legislation so that if someone dies before all the payments are made the state will make them whole.

Babble, babble disinformation. I googled youtube and using your AR 15 and found a bunch of YouTube. This was one of the popular choices. Please explain how this is disinformation. Guy sounds like he knows what he is talking about to me but I am sure you can educate me about about how he is misinforming us all.

Googled it and it just jumped right out at you.
How far didn’t you have to scroll down to find your confirmation bias?
Gun owners are dangerous Rambo wannabes. Right on.

This guy was a gun nut? You didnt watch one bit of it did you. Its a nicely done basic primer on how to use an AR 15 with a lot of emphasis on safety. This is what the NRA used to specialize in. It was probably abbot the 3rd or 4th item. Most of the YouTube are on maintenance, mods you can add or building your own. If someone was a new gun owner and bought an AR 15 as their first gun for some reason this is the kind of youtube I would have them start with.
