I see that Scott Sumner has recognized something I’ve been saying for years, including on this blog:
The Fed now has a triple mandate:
1. Low inflation.
2. High employment.
3. Minimizing the number of sarcastic comments from Wall Street that might make their lives more embarrassing at cocktail parties with rich people.
However, they’re in the wrong order. #3 is obviously the most important. And it’s not limited to the Federal Reserve.
Heh. But Dave, #3 applies to, yes, the Fed, about 90% of Democrats, the corporate wing of Republicans and 90% of the media. Its a pure insiders game. A Washington game. A sham of unbelievable proportion.
You voted for Obama. You have said it was the lesser of two evils. In the case of McCain, I understand. A tired and bitter old man. But Romney?
You tell us you vote for President based primarily on foreign policy considerations. I disagree with this stance but understand your POV. Obama is a foreign policy disaster.
I believe domestic – mostly economic – policy matters wrt the President. He’s a disaster. Seriously……inflation, employment, regulation, energy, government finances, general governance capacity and leadership……..who could have done worse?? Would Romney have done worse? I don’t think so. And if a strong and energy independent economic entity holds power, would that not be a launching point for foreign policy capability?
I bid all adieu for now. Its sunny and 65 degrees. Golf and the final decision on the Diamana “White board” 62 vs S+ Blue 72 shaft await.
As I recently noted, this: http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=kashmir+led+zeppelin&FORM=VIRE6#view=detail&mid=59147BA2055A6152380C59147BA2055A6152380C
is hypnotic and inward. For some reason the Stones and Zep seem to love Kashmir. There is a sad story wrt Robert Plant and a Kashmir trip for aficionados.
Separately, I listened to Mozart’s 11th Piano Concerto the other day on my – if I may say so (oh, I just did) excellent system – highly recommended and 10 points off your blood pressure – “gaur-on-teed.”
See, full service. Political, economic, music and health advice all in one………
I didn’t vote for either candidate last time around. I didn’t feel that the president had earned a second term and I was unconvinced by Romney.
I voted for Johnson purely as a protest vote.
Dave
Not to turn this into an election redux. But I am interested. What did not convince you about Romney, and what would have?
