What will Tim Kaine’s role be in the post-election Democratic Party? I thought he did a creditable job as vice presidential candidate but is a bit charisma-challenged for what promises to be an era of flamboyance and celebrity.
With Hillary Clinton now damaged goods it leaves President Obama as the unchallenged leader of the Party but I’m not sure that’s a role he wants or would care to fill.
Maybe we’re at peak “flamboyance and celebrity” and the nation will be looking for a new change shortly.
Turnout apparently was down this year, and possibly down in Milwaukee and Detroit sufficiently to turn these states red. I’m guessing the African-American vote is going to be an issue, though Obama made the personal case to his coalition that his legacy was at stake here. Looking back over where the Democrats started eight years ago and where they are now, its hard not to conclude that despite Obama’s continual personal popularity, it does not appear at all transferable (at least after the ’08 election).
I think it’s more than turnout that’s down in Milwaukee and Detroit. I think the population, particularly the black population, is down there.
I think we’ve reached the point in developments in technology and transportation that we need a nationwide system of voter registration. When you leave St. Louis and move to Dallas, your St. Louis voter registration remains intact. It would be darned easy to cast votes in federal elections in Oregon, Colorado, and Illinois.
How many real living voters are there in Miami-Dade? Nobody knows.
That makes sense. I heard that turnout was down in Milwaukee County, but that the percentage of the vote won by Clinton there was the same percentage that Obama won four years ago. I was wondering how that could be, and yours is the easiest answer.
At least several points in TPP advocate Obama’s popularity ratings has to be blacks likely not realizing or less likely forgiving him for the fact since he took office their average income has stagnated worse than whites.
Based on the riots Soros is fomenting this evening, it looks like Soros will be the man in charge of the Democratic Party.
Incidentally, I’m old enough to remember when any reaction against an election result was considered unAmerican. I remember 26 hours ago very clearly, LMAO!
Although I mostly avoid social media, I made the mistake of checking my Facebook feed last night. One person (a distant family member) was suggesting that we need an IQ requirement for voting. One of her friends gently reminded her that this was not exactly in keeping with liberal principles. Heh.
If I weren’t averse to stirring the pot, I might have mentioned that the rioting by college kids also suggests that we should have a required basic Civics test for voting.
