Tell Me Why

There isn’t a great deal of news or commentary today. People are mostly whinging about the same stuff they did last week. I am seeing more articles about a brewing civil war, some pooh-poohing the idea, some saying it’s already here.

Here’s my question. Why do people assume a second civil war would take place entirely within the U. S. borders? I think the Canadian “Freedom Convoy” has the makings of a real insurrection insurrection and, now that U. S. truckers are joining their Canadian confrères, it could actually spread. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mexican drayage drivers got into the act, too.

You may be right, Dave. Trudeau has minimized the Freedom Convoy as “Fringe” Canadians, very much like Hillary derided Trump voters as “Deplorables.” However, both the Canadian and U.S. outsiders have been comprised of the large working classes, and they are fed up with the establishment running all over their rights, only amplifying the voices of the elites who are making up all the rules these days.

Supposedly, another convoy is in the works here in the U,S,, starting in CA and going across country to DC. Brazil truckers are also showing an interest. In the meantime, the never-ending pursuit to nail Trump with something/anything continues, unabated by Dems who have lost perspective and their touch with reality because of an over-amped zeal to forever silence him and his followers. Nonetheless, looking at his massive rallies of late, they are merely creating a heightened interest in what he stood for – 50,000 plus in attendance seems to be the norm.

Anyway, these Truckers are touching a chord with people, setting free an innate desire to be free. And, why is that such a bad sentiment to support?

According to BBC 90% of the cross-border truckers are vaccinated.

When it comes to civil war, I look at actions, not words. If people really believed or thought the other side was bad enough to justify a civil war, they wouldn’t be sitting on their asses behind a keyboard talking about it all day while doing nothing.

To me, this is just the current zeitgeist of catastrophizing the normal under the delusion that online panicking will motivate people to change their views.
