Seeds of Change

I think that the big social media sites have sown the seeds of their own destruction by editing content. The problem is that they are presently being used as organizing tools for violent protests. I would suspect that editing content opens them up to liability suits for damages caused by the protests or even suits by cities and states to recover the costs they incur. They can no longer argue that they had no idea of what was happening.

Really should have gone to law school, the opportunities and deep pockets are everywhere you look .
But no, not destruction, just added costs. Lots and lots of them.

Increased costs amounts to destruction. Their net isn’t that enormous to be able to bear the billions we’re talking about.

In terms of net income consider:

    Google $34B
    Facebook $7B
    Twitter $119M

They can’t afford billions in additional costs.

might want to lookup section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, Marshall vs Alabama and look over what the EFF has to say. In brief, they immune even if they censor.

BTW, should the English Crown have shut down mail delivery because of those beds of insurrection, the Committees of Correspondence?
