The picture above was taken by my dad more than 40 years ago. It’s of the clocktower in Sattel, the Swiss village about 50km east of Zurich in which his great-grandfather Schuler (for whom I am named) was born.
I’m told by those who’ve been there more recently that it’s largely unchanged.
The Swiss are the closest thing we have to Vulcans.

Hello,
We share a similar story as decendents of Schulers from Sattel. My great-grandmother emmigrated from Sattel to the US at the age of 26. She landed in NKy and never returned but remained close to a cousin until she died in 1985 at age 99. When I visited Sattel that same year, her cousin, his brother, and nephew assisted me with geneology research, going back to the 1600’s. There is so much more to the story, and I’d love to compare notes. If you want to chat, feel free to contact me via e-mail.
All the best,
From Cincinnati, OH
