This picture may be the only picture of my grandparents together that I have. As you can see it was taken about 1910, probably right around the time they were married but before my dad was born.
I never met any of my grandparents. My grandfather, Fred Schuler, died before he turned fifty as did my maternal grandmother. My grandmother, Esther Schuler’s, relationship with my dad was very strained and I may have met her once. She was in her fifties when she died. My mom’s dad died nearly ten years before I was born.
