Musher alert: Alaska ABC affiliate to live-stream Iditarod 2005 finish today

The winner of the 2005 Iditarod will cross the finish line sometime today, probably between 10:00am and 12:00pm CST. Alaska’s SuperStation’s live coverage of the Finish will be streamed on www.iditarod.com. When the feed is available you’ll be able to view the Finish live online by going over to the Iditarod web site and clicking on the Superstation logo (shown on left). Check back frequently there (or here).

Major media coverage of the Iditarod this year has been very scanty so this coverage is very welcome.

UPDATE: Sorlie left Safety at 4:54 Alaska time (7:54 CST). It’s about three hours from Safety to Nome, the end of the race.

9:30am CST UPDATE: Iten left Safety at 5:59am Alaska time (8:59 CST). He’s making substantially better time than Sorlie so he’s trying to make it a race but, frankly, I don’t see any way he can catch up. Sorlie should be about an hour outside of Nome now.

9:54am CST UPDATE: Seavey left Safety at 6:40 Alaska time (9:40 CST).

10:05am CST UPDATE: The feed appears to be alive. Click on the logo. Or go to the Iditarod site and do the same.

10:15am CST UPDATE: Andersen left Safety at 6:59 Alaska time (9:59 CST).

11:07am CST UPDATE: Ramy Brooks left Safety at 7:59 Alaska time (10:59 CST).

11:40am CST UPDATE: Robert Sorlie crossed the finish line into Nome at 8:39 Alaska time (11:39 CST). His winning time was 9 days, 18 hours, 39 minutes, 31 seconds at an average speed of 4.649 miles per hour.
