Manafort’s Convictions

As I said yesterday, President Trump has surrounded himself with creeps, slimeballs, and, now it can reasonably be said, criminals. The Mueller investigation does and should go on.

Manafort, five months on Trump’s team, when Trump suspected he was dirty, he ditched him.

My take is, Carter was a Governor who brought in Pols. from Ga.
Reagan was a Gov. same deal
    Bush, same deal.
Obama, Ill. senator, brought in his team.
Where is Trump’s team, does he have ANY permanent friends?
He doesn’t even have permanent wives.

It appears justice was done in the Manafort case, at least until we see the sentencing. But did we need the Mueller investigation for this?

Does it bother anyone that the original (stated intent) of the investigation has turned up nothing, but rather is doing the job missed by the balance of the justice system, and is providing Snow White, er, Mueller, the opportunity to squeeze people into composing charges (Cohen) that have almost no legal standing but provide perfect political cover for Democrat mischief?

It seems to me Cohen’s admissions are the much bigger deal.

I continue to believe it is unlikely that the investigation will show collusion between Russia and Trump, but the investigation, as it trolls the sea-floor looking for the Russian smoking gun, will drag up a ton of other unsavory and illegal detritus that will materially damage Trump.

“I continue to believe it is unlikely that the investigation will show collusion between Russia and Trump”

But between Russia and members of the his campaign?

That was, in fact, the assignment given Mueller. Not directed at Trump specifically, but toward

Any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump…

Of this, we do not yet know.

I see that there is a GoFundMe website for Cohen’s legal fees, and he has plead guilty. If Flynn had a GoFundMe website, would have plead guilty to a crime that he did not commit?

I have no doubt that Rob Blagojevich’s friends and associates were pushed to choose between declaring bankruptcy or pleading guilty.

If your lawyer is the public defender, you might plead guilty to a lesser charge rather than being convicted of a larger one. I do not like criminals, but I do not feel sorry for them. Most of them have not been caught for other crimes they committed, but most of us have not been caught for committing a crime, wittingly or not.

I know many people whose ‘brush with the law’ has opened their eyes.
