I want to commend Stefani Germanotta (Lady Gaga) on how she conducted herself during the Super Bowl halftime show last night. She made her views about President Trump and his policies clear while conducting herself and performing her act in a highly professional manner.
Wouldn’t it be nice if these celebrities just kept their opinions to themselves? As if I would care what they think.

I agree – it was entertaining as well.
She has a good voice, has tons of presence, and it was certainly a spectacle.
I am a big fan of Lady Gaga. This is her singing with just a piano on Howard Stern. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cce36nhHTP8
I used to think she was a talentless provocateur – obsessed with achieving fame through shock and vulgarity – but my opinion changed dramatically over the last couple of years to pretty much the opposite of what I previously thought.
Agree, and I’m generally not a fan (perhaps becoming one, but more like an admirer because I recognize her talent but it’s not my thing.)
Still….more of this please, entertainers.
As someone who used to dismiss her as another one of the mindless, talentless modern stars that seem to dominate modern “pop” music , I agree. Like I would imagine most of the readers, her music generally isn’t my cup of tea, but then I recognize that I’m not the audience for today’s music and that artists do have to go with the times if they want to earn a living.
What turned me around on my opinion of her, was the opportunities I have had to hear her sing without all the electronics, dance moves, and flashy, revealing costumes, especially on the stuff she’s done recently with Tony Bennett. Behind all the flash, there’s an amazingly good voice that could serve her well singing almost any genre of music, including the jazz standards that dominate Bennett’s catalog of work.
Not that I mind the revealing costumes. 🙂
To use the show business parlance, at the least she has a musical comedy voice, possibly a legitimate voice. That puts her miles ahead of many pop singers.
Agreed. As an artist prefer Amy Winehouse, though.
Winehouse also had an extraordinarily good voice as well.
It was unfortunate that she chose a path that led to her own destruction.
It’s always sad to see that, in and outside the arts.
With more time on my hands these days I volunteer my time, just as a sounding board, to people headed down the wrong path. It’s always harder to watch the young, but they are also less receptive. You almost become a hobbyist, if somewhat effective, counselor/psychologist. When you get to the back stories you find there is a lot of trouble out there.
