IMO the video of protesters harassing Elaine Chao, Mitch McConnell’s wife, will be played over and over again during the upcoming elections. The video is easy enough to find.
Those protesters are awfully male and awfully pale. Whatever the merits, it’s not particularly good optics for The Resistance for a bunch of white boys to be seen harassing an Asian woman.
After his election I was concerned Republicans would overplay their hand. I blew it. It’s been the Democrats.
I don’t think that, in Liberal optics, Asians are in included in the victim category, “People of Color”. She’s fair game.
I don’t know; how does it compare to Rep Rostenkowski getting harassed by seniors?
It is ironic is the protesters probably don’t know the background of Elaine Chao.
Pretty mild, actually. His senior constituents actually drove Dan Rostenkowski onto the hood of his car. The difference: Elaine Chao hadn’t done any of those protestors any harm and (as far as anyone knows) isn’t running a corrupt enterprise. The protesters are just following the lead of the Democratic leadership. When that leadership includes Maxine Waters as it does now, some reflection is called for.
Also to keep in mind: Rostenkowski lost his seat to a halfwit with no political experience. He had been one of the half dozen most powerful people in the country. Second most powerful in the House (right after the Speaker).
