Is it wrong of me that I don’t care what Hillary Clinton ate for lunch or where she stopped for a cup of coffee or to use the restroom? There’s a long list of other things that I don’t care about and the major media outlets have hit just about all of them.
You’re already tire of her? Only 8+ more years to go.
I was tired of her 20 years ago.
Not enough coverage of the 150th anniversary of Lincoln’s assassination.
I’ll share this story again: About ten years ago I was seated at close tables with an historian on Steven Spielberg’s advisory group on filming ie Dorris Kearns Goodwin’s book about Lincoln’s first cabinet. He was having trouble identifying a narrative out of the book (so why did he purchase the rights anyway?). He suggested a focus on Lincoln’s relationship with Frederick Douglass, and the historians told him there wasn’t much of any, they met only a couple of times. He then asked about whether a story could be carved out of her relationship with his wife, too which some complained that the relationship is seen as cold, and her detractors believed she was a spendthrift, crazy and treasonous. Spielberg apparently paused and then told the group that this film is scheduled to be released in 2008, when a former first lady will be running for President, so that will not do.
It will get worse. In prior elections they even covered what they ate and whether they used ketchup or mustard, then cited that as evidence about their policy preferences or personality, or something. Next, we will hear a new story about how her cousin was married to someone who had a friend who knew Mr. X, who will of course be the worst person in the world.

@steve, I do care if a candidate puts ketchup on a hot dog, that’s for certain.
PD- One of my surgeons puts mayo on his dogs. Lots of it. Ugh!
Steve
PD,
Ketchup on a hot dog? Clearly you are a conservative and probably a racist. Everyone knows that mustard (particularly the type of mustard) is the only relevant consideration when it comes to hot dogs.
Steve,
Your mayo surgeon is obviously a radical communist. Why would you willing associate with such people?
Err, sorry for the invective guys, I’m just trying to get into the election season spirit.
I’m not sure how anybody can be pro-American regarding condiments. The Germans have curry ketchup, the Belgians their flavored mayo for fries, and the French aioli and true mustard.
PD: There should have been a national reading of When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom’d.
That’s what I did, at least.
Coffin that passes through lanes and streets,
Through day and night with the great cloud darkening the land,
With the pomp of the inloop’d flags with the cities draped in black,
With the show of the States themselves as of crape-veil’d women standing,
With processions long and winding and the flambeaus of the night,
With the countless torches lit, with the silent sea of faces and the unbared heads,
With the waiting depot, the arriving coffin, and the sombre faces,
With dirges through the night, with the thousand voices rising strong and solemn,
With all the mournful voices of the dirges pour’d around the coffin,
The dim-lit churches and the shuddering organs—where amid these you journey,
With the tolling tolling bells’ perpetual clang,
Here, coffin that slowly passes,
I give you my sprig of lilac.
