Is He Trying to Kill Him?

William A. Galston uses his Wall Street Journal column to give advice to President Biden on what to do in his State of the Union message:

He must deliver a forceful State of the Union address, campaign vigorously, accept media interviews he has ducked up to now, and debate Mr. Trump this fall.

There are certainly risks in such a strategy including the risk of a major gaffe which reinforces the message that many people have been receiving lately.

I hadn’t realized until Nate Silver’s piece linked below that Biden had not done a single sit down interview with a major newspaper. I sort of expected the number of media engagements to have fallen both by preference and as a result of COVID (not that there is not technology, but I can empathize with the notion that the end of the pandemic always seemed like it was just around the corner in putting things off).

Silver wanted Biden to engage in several interviews over the comings weeks, including non-friendly ones. I assume that didn’t happen, and the reason it didn’t happen is the Biden people think it could cost the election. I have no problems with Harris, she’s more of a cypher, but the more time passes the more likely she is the only alternative and I don’t know that she’s engaged in those types of interviews either.

I’m not much of a football fan, but I particularly hate the part of the game where a team is playing prevent defense, i.e. conceding ground to avoid worst outcomes.

    Jesus Nate!
America has a “racism problem?” that old Joe was elected to address?
That’s his bread and butter, he’s been running on that trope for what? 70 years?
That’s who we are as Americans, diversity is our strength, Japan doesn’t have a racism problem, neither does China or North Korea, nobody faults their culture or civilization for excluding foreigners.
America welcomes foreigners and because of the friction that causes old Joe and Barak Obama made careers out of “solving” racism. Well thank God for that.

Trump takes up enough air time for both he and Biden. Let Trump have more time to do himself in.

    Carry on Joy, carry on!!
