Income Growth By State

If you’ve been wondering why I keep banging on the table, look no farther than the graph above illustrating the income growth rate by state for each of the states since 2007. If you look right down there second from the bottom, you’ll find Illinois. For a larger image check the original post at Pew Research (hat tip: CapitolFax).

Annualized, that’s .5% income growth every year since 2007.

    I blame your Republican governor.

And at least you’re not Nevada!

Interesting about Iowa, it has a 3.8% unemployment rate, which I thought was one factor that might make it more of an outlier this election season. But it also had the lowest growth rate last year (0.4%) outside of North Dakota.

We’re thinking of making that the state motto.

I believe Alabama’s motto is “At least we’re not Mississippi!” Or maybe it’s the other way around. Hard to tell.
