Iditarod 2005 Update III

After nine days of racing the Iditarod is drawing to a close. Here are the current standings in the Iditarod:

Position Musher
1 Robert Sorlie
2 Ed Iten
3 Mitch Seavey
4 John Baker
5 Ramy Brooks
6 Bjornar Andersen
7 Paul Gebhardt
8 Jeff King
9 Martin Buser
10 Doug Swingley

Sorlie, Iten, and Seavey have all checked in at White Mountain just 77 miles from Nome. Baker, Brooks, and Mackey have all left Elim. The remainder of the leaders are still in Elim. We’ll know who the winner of this year’s Iditarod is in 18 to 20 hours (although the race won’t be over until the last contestant—the red lantern winner—crosses the finish line). At this point it looks very much like Sorlie will repeat his Iditarod win of last year but Iten or Seavey could still edge him out.

    HI!
I am a student in the Arcadian area, and I am doing a project on dog sled racing. I was wondering if I could send you about ten questions on dog sled racing. It would be very helpful to me with my project, my teacher also suggested it. If you are not too busy please contact me at:
