My neighborhood on the Northwest Side of Chicago is flying the W tonight. The Chicago Cubs face the Los Angeles Dodgers in Wrigley Field in the second game of the National League playoffs. If last night’s game was any gauge, it looks pretty good for the Cubbies to go all the way.
I think it was Mike Royko who noted that there was no purer expression of fandom in sports than being a Cubs fan, a love unadulterated by thoughts of victory. This year victory might be within Cubs’ fans’ grasp.
Shouldn’t you be stocking up for the apocalypse instead of posting on your blog?
Didn’t Royko also base a team’s chances on the number of ex-Cubs in their roster?
Btw Royko was really one of a kind. Can you imagine David Brooks having the wit to invent Slats Grobnik?
Russell and Rizzo need to get their heads out of their you know whats…….
