One more remark on Aaron Miller’s op-ed. I’m not disappointed by Obama because my expectations weren’t that high.
I am, however, disappointed by Obama’s supporters. I think they’re far too willing to forgive him. We are undertaking one military adventure after the next because they’re afraid to criticize.
I think it’s because they possess the mens rea for racism and I’m disappointed about that.
Yes, that’s my criticism as well. The liberal commenters, for example, at OTB are willing to carry a lot of water for the President and they don’t seem to see any inconsistency with their attitudes toward, for example, Bush.
Both Dave’s and Andy’s comments are where I’m coming from, as well. I oftentimes wonder what it will take for those over at OTB to see Obama in a different, less complimentary light. Sometimes, I muse there is nothing he could do that would be seen by them as inappropriate, stupid, or over the top as Commander-in Chief of this country.
