Entrenched

I’m hearing all sorts of breathless reports of polls showing that Trump’s job approval is falling. Nonetheless, if you look at the RealClearPolitcs average of polls it’s right where it’s been for the last several months which, ironically, is just about where it was on election day 2016. Trump’s approval among Republicans is around 80% while his approval among Democrats and independents is in the cellar.

As long as that’s the case President Trump should have no concern of impeachment. If you’re banking on removing Trump via impeachment, reconsider.

None of the foregoing should be construed as support of Trump. I didn’t vote for him in 2016; I disapprove of him now. I’m just pointing out what should be obvious but apparently eludes a lot of otherwise intelligent people.

Send a note to Doug “Trumps New Poll Numbers” Mataconis.

In a democrat-entertained envirnment of Maxine Waters, over-the-top ideological resistance, antifa violence, the sliminess of HRC, the intolerant stances of the left, and so on, what reasonable options are there for people to consider?

DJT, despite his unpredictable behavior, at least looks sane compared to the insanity of the opposition party.

Would that be the same Doug “what stinkin’ Donna Brazile bombshell” Mataconis? Also, are the commenters ready to revolt due to the embargo? (rhetorical questions)

It is now Brazile Bombshell Day 5 and Stephanopoulos interview Day 2, and still OTB has not noticed.

The opposition would do better seeking and winning elections. But, have to admit shrieking and keyboard warrioring is easier.

Trump looks totally insane, and thank God we don’t have the level of obstruction by the Dems seen with the GOP (yet, and we may never see it if his own party can’t pass anything) but the stuff about his poll numbers is just nuts. His support hardly varies. He has a solid 35%-40%. It varies a little bit depending upon how stupid he has been lately, but it is pretty well set there. AS Pelosi said the other day, there is no chance of impeaching him and that talk is nonsense.

When you follow the sequence of presidencies, with a nonpartisan filter, it can be observed that during the GWB administration the Dems actively stonewalled his judicial nominations. When Obama took the presidency, while the Rs allowed his cabinet picks through , they immitated the Dems behavior by not cooperating with judicial selections. Reid, eventually took care of that impediment by detonating the so-called nuclear option, clearing the path to getting liberal judges seated, especially in the all important DC Circuit court

Now, Trump is president, the Dems tried to stonewall his SCOTUS nominee, supposedly as retaliation for not dealing with Obama’s end of term nominee. McConnell, immitating Reid, however expanded the nuclear option to the supreme Court, easing Gorsche into Scalia’s chair. The R’s have also expedited filling court vacancies, because of the Reid Rule.

Currently the Dems are using every roadblock they can find to make it difficult for Trump to fill needed positions in his govenment, halving what Obama had filled by the same time his 1st year. So what do you want to wager, that when a Dem occupies the WH, his/her cabinet nominees will be given the same slow-trot treatment.

The pattern here is the Dems appear to provide the template of resistance that is then dutfully followed by the Rs when they get into power.

    Gridlock anybody???

    Tasty –

I just drop by there from time to time to drop some snark. It’s a shell of its former self as Doug has stopped any pretense of even-handedness. Unfortunate.

But it does seem to have gotten quieter. I think they finally are getting the hint that the Trump collusion scam has run its course. Even Feinstein again this weekend denied any evidence. Meanwhile, the HRC/DNC situation just keeps getting uglier, from paid-for crap dossiers to U1 to Comeys rigged HRC investigation (at whose request?) to Bernie rigging, and is going to take down some FBI and Justice officials with it. And turn their head the other way Repubs won’t get out unscathed.

Next comes the full, as only the Clinton’s can do it, onslaught to destroy Brazile. But is Clinton political capital starting to run dry? How will this play with black voters? This could get very entertaining.

    Only steve missed the memo.

Drew- Not a Clinton fan. In my ideal world both of the Clinton’s and Trump are in jail.

Jan – Sorry. Well documented that the Trump admin is lagging everyone else in naming nominees. The Dems might go ahead and delay things, but they don’t need to do a thing if no one is even nominated.

Generally one has verifiable charges before throwing someone in jail. What are those in the case of Trump?

    Now THIS is collusion:

This is why DNC /Clinton lawyers finally stopped, after a year of lying, about who was paying Fusion for Russian garbage info in dossier (the law firm/Clinton was) – to head off inquiries in financial records as to who Fusion in turn gave it to and or paid to get it or spread it. Talk about campaign collusion with Russians. NOT just standard oppo research. Fusion GPS is hiding behind their role as former journalists, not the current one as slime purveyors. I am told that this is an indictable offense. PD has offered that the law firm buffer may offer a defense to the DNC and Hillary. Me? I’m not a lawyer. Your attempt at moral equivalency fails to impress.

The OTB comments get quieter anytime anything negative comes up about the Left. I keep up with OTB in my RSS Reader, but I rarely delve into the comments. I hope you take a shower after you drop in.

Steve, Trump has deservedly received criticism for his slow nomination speed. However, it is also well documented that those who have been nominated are being processed with every stall movement in place. The Dems seem beyond childish by wasting so much time just to put a nail strip up to slow an administration’s ability to fill needed government positions. This will come back to bite them, as did the Reid Rule, when tables are politically turned.

  • Jan Link

Drew, this entire trump-colluded-with-russia meme has been such a legal farce, especially in light of all the HRC’s misadentures in following the law. Sometimes my head almost explodes when I read MSM news agencies going nuts over Trump trivia, as they say nothing or turn a blind eye to lies and real ciminality among Dem elites.

I thought the “Trump overfed the Japanese Koi!” claim yesterday was hilarious.

“The Dems seem beyond childish by wasting so much time just to put a nail strip up to slow an administration’s ability to fill needed government positions. ”

This is what is known as payback. This is the same stuff the GOP did. The Reid rule was invented because of this. The only real difference is that Trump has been slower to provide nominees. Well, he also has more people quitting.

Prediction-If Trump gets to nominate another SCOTUS candidate, and it is within 1 1/2 years of the next election, and the Dems hold the Senate, we won’t see it acted upon. I fully expect the Dems to escalate after what the GOP did.

There are many nominees already vetted and awaiting the Senate to get off their high-horse and approve them.
