Election Day, 2016

I think I’ve mentioned it before but my dad was heavily involved in politics practically from birth. One of his earliest jobs was handing out pints of booze from his little red wagon at the polling place on election day.

Those were the days! It was a grand old tradition that went all the way back to George Washington.

    I could drink to that.

Just got back from voting; turnout seemed high and its being reported as very high countywide. I think any high turnout is probably being motivated by some proxy battles between the Governor and the House Speaker. Ultimately very few Trump / Clinton signs, nor Kirk / Duckworth signs either.

I chickened out on voting for George Washington, and even chickened-out from wearing my George Washington for President shirt to vote today because I didn’t feel like getting tased and cuffed by the man. My daughter said she was going to wear her George Washington for President shirt to school, but didn’t see her before she left.

That is a much better idea than drinking at home tonight in a fit of depression, which is what I’ll be doing.

Are you still a poll-worker Dave?

  • No, I’ve been too busy for the last couple of years. I’m kind of glad I’m not working this election. There may be a lot of angry voters.

This is only little Lincoln, Ne. , but the the lines were long and everyone was silent and polite. From here looks like high turnout.

Watching this unfold in a hip Greenpoint bar. Friends left in shock. A bad part of me is happy I told my Clinton-heavy brother Sunday I had a bad feeling despite what my head said.
