Doo doo doo

Lookin’ out my backdoor.

Fall has set in with a vengeance. When I went out with Qila and Jenny this morning on our walk the temperatures were in the high thirties. I tried to convince them that I needed to go back and get my jacket (and gloves) but they were so keen to get on the trail that they convinced me to go right on ahead without extra clothes.

We’ve got yardwork on the schedule today—clearing out the dead foliage, maybe a little late reseeding.

  • Is that dog agility equipment I see? What fun!

How long have you been training? Tell all!

  • Good eye, Robin. In addition to the jumps and the pause table in the picture we’ve got a lot more jumps, a tunnel, and a teeter-totter. My wife and I began training in canine agility with our boy, Qila, a little over 5 years ago. My wife runs regularly with our girl, Tally. Tally has her Open Standard title and her Excellent title in jumpers with weaves. They’ve got competitions in each of the next two weekends.

There’s a description of one of our agility jaunts in this post which includes a brief video of my wife and Tally. I’ve got a great picture of Tally doing what she likes best in this post.

Congrats on Talli’s titles. My English Cockers and Whippet love to “play agility” when I have time to spend training, but alas it has been neglected for several months now.

I didn’t know you showed. Will you breed? My foundation girl is Ch. Jaybriar’s Rave Review, co-owned with her breeder who graciously shared her with me. Rowan’s dam is multiple BIS / multiple Best in National Specialty Ch. Jaybriar’s Herectic NA ECM. Witch trained for open agility, but never finished the last leg as she began to win BIS again at 11 & 12 yrs of age, bumping agility off the schedule.

I’ve promised Rowan, her two daughters and granddaughter here that I’ll find time for her to train again. So far I’ve been a bust as an owner/trainer though — I spend too much time on the computer and not enough time out in our yard with them.

  • We attempted to breed Tally aka Ch. Kendara’s Notorious AJX OA WSX just under two years ago. I’ll blog about it sometime. We honestly haven’t decided whether we’ll breed Mira (Kendara’s Mirabile Dictu) our 18 month old junior yet.

  • BTW, Robin, what is ECM? I assume it’s a breed-specific English Cocker title of some kind. Record of merit?
