Don’t Do It

I have seen a number of opinion pieces today predicting that Vice President Harris will be the Democrats’ presidential candidate in 2028. IMO that’s one of the worst suggestions I have read in a long time. The vice president is, perhaps, the most inept campaigner we’ve seen in a presidential campaign in my lifetime. It would, however, give her the opportunity to prove she has been correct in her contention that she just didn’t have enough time (she had plenty of time).

I chalk this up as an instance of what Sigmund Freud called “the death wish”. I can think of no stronger evidence that the Democratic leadership actually wants to cede the White House to the Republicans. Please, please, VP Harris, remove your name from contention. I don’t believe she will. The presidency is a disease which, once you have contracted it, seems to be incurable.

Democratic Party leaders seem to exist in an information bubble, unable to discern the shape of the iceberg in their path.
They are every bit as responsible for the Trump victory as is any Republican voter or donor.
The only consolation for them is that whomever they anoint next election will not be running against Donald Trump.

They all have lots of ego and think they can win. I would be shocked if she got the nomination.

I would disagree a bit on the time thing. I dont think she had enough time to run but even if she did she still would have lost. People dont like inflation. However, the bad part was Biden not stepping down earlier so there could have been a real primary. If that happened she is a bad campaigner so I dont think she would have won.

As an aside, RBG and Biden really screwed things being a couple of selfish old bastards. Will be interesting to see if Thomas and Alito do the same thing. I doubt it since the GOP has made it clear to Thomas in particular that they will finance a nice comfy retirement.
