Diversity Is Our Strength

An opinion poll conducted by the Zogby organization finds a disturbing percentage of Americans believe we are on the brink of a civil war:

Nearly half (16% very likely and 30% somewhat likely combined) of likely voters believe the country will have another civil war, while 42% (24% very unlikely and 18% somewhat unlikely combined) did not think we were headed for another civil war; 11% of survey respondents were not sure.

The younger you were the more likely you were to believe civil war was near (Age 23-29: 53%; age 65+: 31%). Those living in large cities thought it more likely as well. (City: 55%; suburbs: 36%).

Most interesting there were differences of opinion among different racial and ethnic groups:

Hispanic   53%
Black 49%
White 43%

Presently, our percent of immigrant population is pushing 15% and, if present trends continue, that will continue to grow. Not only does that put stress on the society, those arriving here have frequently seen civil war at first hand.

The respondents IMO do not define civil war as I do.
I believe they expect civil strife and scattered conflict. Voices raised and punches thrown.
    That won’t surprise anyone.
What I worry about is the Federal crackdown.
We have uncontrolled illegal immigration, spreading violent drug gangs trafficking deadly narcotics and deaths and our President says his highest priority is White supremacy driven terrorism.

Black despise this country and everything about it, even the Obama’s and athletes who got rich off it. Mexicans want to seize control of the Southwest, and set up their own “Nuevo Mexico,” La Raza. Whites are largely unaware of the goals of the Blacks and Mexicans, and are consumed by their own internal social and political disputes.

Support for the existence of the USA exists only among Whites, but they can’t agree on what it should be. Conservatives want the original, Constitutional republic. Leftists (nowadays all marxists of a sort) want a totalitarian leftist state, and they are getting it.

That looks like a recipe for some kind of civil war to me. But I don’t expect armies marching across the land. Something more like the Middle East or Africa or Central Asia: terror bombings, IED’s, assassinations, kidnappings, riots, criminal gangs, no go zones, Green Zones (like today’s DC or Baghdad).

The revolutionary occupation of several blocks of downtown Portland began May 29, 2020. It has now gone on for almost nine months, without break. The occupied zone is held by armed, armored revolutionaries who have set up roadblocks. They have the support of the local and state Democrats. The downtowns of a dozen or so other cities, including Chicago, have been repeatedly trashed. That is what a modern American civil war looks like.

The Second Civil War is actually here.

The failure of a federal crackdown is as great a worry. That’s what we’ve had so far.

I doubt there would be pitched battles. I suspect that one of the worries of federal elected officials is that, were the National Guard to be called in, the National Guard might side with the rebels.
