Define “Ceasefire”

Although the U. S., Iran, and Israel agreed to a temporary ceasefire in Israel and the U. S.’s war against Iran, any ceasefire seems to be largely on the part of the U. S. Israel openly declared that for its part the ceasefire did not include Lebanon and its attacks there seem to have escalated if anything as have Hezbollah’s. According to the Institute for the Study of War there has been no material change in Iranian attacks against the Arab Gulf States and it continues to threaten traffic through the Straits of Hormuz.

As has been the case since the start of this war I have little idea of what is happening beyond press releases, which I consider to be largely propaganda, and what I can garner from open source outlets like the ISW.

Per Trump, the strait was going to be completely open and US/Israel would stop its attacks. Per Iran, they weren’t stopping their attacks and opening the strait if Israel didnt stop its attacks on its proxies. Israel is behaving more like your definition of an ally. Iran is behaving as though its 10 point plan is its goal and already partially in effect. Not sure what Trump was thinking. I think he just likes to make big announcements. Suspect the family and friends made some money out of this.

I saw a couple of reports that one of Iran’s oil sites had been hit and it was thought UAE or another Gulf state did it instead of Israel. Dont know how likely that is.

I might have requested that Israel not bomb proxies. In the decades this has been going on they won’t materially change things now, certainly not for the better.

Perhaps it signals how Israel views this ceasefire and its prospects. Bullshit.

The same could be said for Iran’s continued attacks on gulf states.
