George Stephanopoulos interviewed or, should I say, debated with Donna Brazile on this morning’s This Week on ABC. He was clearly desperate to rationalize the unusual relationship between the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee that Ms. Brazile complained about in her book, released this week. She, in her most polite Southern way, stuck to her guns and stuck up for herself, stopping short of saying he was full of it.
One of the interesting aspects of the matter is that none of the guests on the program including those with deep insider involvement with the DNC said it was untrue, merely expressed astonishment that Donna Brazile would say things that reflected so badly on the Democratic Party in public.
That seems to me to be of a piece with the reactions to the revelations from the hacked DNC emails. They didn’t deny them; the only concern was that they reflected badly on the party.
I think these are people who see right and wrong in terms of what advances or impairs their careers. It’s a perfect environment for overeducated, low talent hustlers.
That was a spot-on comment, Ben. Unfortunately that’s a common occurrence in the rhelm of both D and R politics. It’s always a matter of keeping an eye more on the end game than the truth.
Further perspective to Jan’s general observation. As Dave would say – “read the whole thing.”

I would suggest that there is something more profound happening. Donna Brazile is not simply the ‘canary in the coal mine’. She is a big f’ing deal. She is turning on her own, and from the excerpts, the bridges she is burning will not be rebuilt.
RE: Camille Paglia
When I read that she carried a knife, she was my gal. I suspect that she brings her knife to a gunfight, intentionally. There is something special about a woman who is willing to slice and dice her enemies, physically or literally.
Donna Brazile is of the Barbara Jordan- Shirley Chisholm school of Democrat, which predates the Clintons by decades. Her private language for current Dems is probably even worse than mine. And mine is seaworthy.
Tasty – my current view is that Ms Brazile is selling a book, and engaging in some exculpatory behavior. However, she is doing it by simply relaying the truth of what was going on. The two aren’t mutually exclusive.
I also think she can win the public debate.
If Donna Brazile makes a lot of money with this book, she’ll need it to safely disappear, or go into the witness protection program. Social progressive Dems are ruthless when people attempt any opposition to their conduct or power grabs, let alone if it’s one of their own. Anyone going awol from their program/doctrines, unlike Bergdahl, aren’t allowed to get off Scott free. Advice to Donna would be to watch your back and/or any sidewalk bananas!
