Continuing the Discussion

There has been a lively discussion going on in comments about the Russia-Ukraine War. I am filled with questions:

  • Isn’t Russia likely to escalate the war if the war becomes an existential issue for Russia?
  • Is it possible for Ukraine to be secure without making the situation an existential issue for Russia?
  • How is Russia likely to react to Ukrainians assassinating Russia politicians or media figures in Russia?
  • How crazy is Dennis Rodman?

The Ukraine war is already an existential issue for Russians, not just Putin and his allies. The assassination of Dugina has been connected to the Azov Nazis by the Russian equivalent of the CIA, and they have named the killers. Western media are denying the Russian claims, but everyone in Russia believes the FSB.

Russia will now attempt the conquest of all of Ukraine. Negotiations are off the table. They will escalate to whatever level is needed to conquer Ukraine, including nuclear warfare.

Whoever ordered the killing of Dugin/Dugina has made a fatal mistake. Hell’s gates are wide open.

Again, Dave, get your family out of Chicago. It’s a death trap even if its not nuked.

Everyone should have iodide pills in their medicine cabinet. I have some, and am getting more. Get a gun any gun, and ammo for it.

    God help us.

Russia invades Ukraine and kills thousands of Ukrainians on Ukraine soil. Its a special military operation. One Russian gets killed on Russian soil. Its terrorism. Its many thousands of times more likely this is a false flag, or using an assassination by some dissident group to create a false flag to justify both cracking down on internal dissidents and expand the war effort. They have not wanted to mobilize and escalate it into a declared war but this can be used for justification.

Just like I noted NATO having 50 troops in some country was not a realistic existential threat, one person getting killed isn’t really proof of terrorism and certainly wouldn’t justify expanded attacks on Ukrainian civilian sites, but all you have do is “I think this is an existential threat” and you can do whatever you want.

Isn’t Russia likely to escalate the war if the war becomes an existential issue for Russia?

    Yes.

Is it possible for Ukraine to be secure without making the situation an existential issue for Russia?

It depends on the relationship between US/Russia. If US/Russia were acting as friends, then Ukraine orientation isn’t an issue. When they are enemies as now, it is not possible.

How is Russia likely to react to Ukrainians assassinating Russia politicians or media figures in Russia?

Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty and the pig likes it

    How crazy is Dennis Rodman?

It doesn’t matter if a cat is black or white, so long as it catches mice.

“Is it possible for Ukraine to be secure without making the situation an existential issue for Russia?”

Only complete subservience on the part of Ukraine could eliminate the complaint about existential threat. Its not believable but Russia will make the claim.

    Rodman is crazy.

South Park understood the concept of existential threat much like the Russians.
