Catching my eye: morning A through

Here’s what’s caught my eye this morning:

  • A Guy in Pajamas relates a conversation from a Japanese bar that I found rather interesting.
  • It’s hot girl-on-girl action as Ann Althouse comments on a Camille Paglia reading she attended last night. It’s a tough, gritty life there in Madison, folks.
  • There’s a bit of disquieting information about credit cards from Cory Doctorow on Boing Boing. Apparently, all you need to cancel a credit card is the number.
  • For you Pentagon’s New Map fans out there, Jonathan Gewirtz of Chicago Boyz has a great graphic and question for you. I’d like to see a close relative of this map with the line color coded based on who owns them.
  • Coyote Blog has put together a good deal of the post I was working on as a follow-up to my previous post in income tax progressivity. The conclusion appears to be that the current system (including Medicare and Medicaid benefits as income) is mildly progressive by reasonable definitions of progressivity.
  • Mary’s reactions to the pictures of GWB walking hand-in-hand with Crown Prince Abdullah were about the same as mine, I see.
  • Observations on Beirut from Michael J. Totten.

That’s the lot.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who felt that way 🙂
