Can anybody imagine the Department of Justice conducting an even-handed investigation of potential Secret Service lapses in the provision of security to Donald Trump in a presidential election year? I don’t believe it and I think that experience should lead us in that direction.
Happen to know couple of Secret Service guys including one who had a leadership position. As a group they seem to lean very much to the conservative side. They like Trump. Have a hard time seeing this as some kind of plot by the Secret Service. It will take quite a while to investigate so it wont be done before the election. I think they have the skills to investigate the shooter but the DOJ arent really experts on security issues so not sure they the ideal choice for investigating competence. (Most likely just laziness. People seem to have this weird idea that the military and similar organizations like the Secret Service dont make the simple mistakes that everyone else does.)
