Bevan’s Reasons

It isn’t just Hillary Clinton who’s in the opinion pages today. It’s Clintonistas, too. At RealClearPolitics Tom Bevan gives five signs that Rahm Emanuel may lose the run-off election. They are:

  1. His poll numbers haven’t budged.
  2. The ad (which I’ve mentioned before) in which he sorta kinda apologizes won’t do him any favors.
  3. Black pastors, among them Jesse Jackson, are endorsing Chuy Garcia.
  4. Everybody hates the red light cameras.
  5. The mayor hasn’t done enough to deal with the shooting occurring every weekend on the South Side.

Who wins the run-off will depend on who does the best job of getting their voters to show up. I wouldn’t be surprised if fewer than 25% of voters vote in the run-off. Anything, including Rahm Emanuel’s defeat, could happen.

The question might be as simple as in an election based on name recognition alone will more voters vote for or against Rahm Emanuel?

Do you still work the polls?

  • I’ve been taking a hiatus. My work schedule didn’t permit my working at the November election and the same appointment covered the primary and, I guess, the run-off. I plan to go back when my schedule permits.
