There’s an interesting article on the prospects for autonomous vehicles at IEEE Spectrum. Short version: it’s hard to generalize because of the disparity in data collection but it sure looks as though the developers aren’t making progress as fast as the hype might have led you to believe.
As I’ve said multiple times before, I think that liability is going to delay or kill the adoption of autonomous vehicles. I think I’ve got another two years before I’ll see if my bet on the subject holds true.
