Another Day Another Bomb

So, what do you make of these bombs going off in Austin?

I live in Austin, and it makes us nervous. My wife and I receive lots of packages via the mail and other delivery services, and we have begun using the online tracking feature offered by all of the vendors to see what we’re expecting on a given day. My wife brought my attention to a rolled-up newspaper on the front sidewalk Saturday morning, an anomaly as we don’t subscribe to the local paper. The rolled up newspaper concerned her. I walked out and inspected it closely, and after determining that it was hollow, went back inside. Yeah, we’re all nervous here in Austin. I told my wife this AM that only two people have died in four explosions, and I suspect the bomber is pulling his punches in determining the strength of the bombs, although why he’d do that is unclear to me.

Perhaps, it is finally time to institute package control. There is no reason the average sender needs to send large capacity packages or stockpile them. There should be a 3-day waiting period, and background checks would not be unreasonable.

It is never too early to discuss this issue. Enough is enough, and it is time to act. Nobody should be allowed to just go out and mail a package.

(With the use of a tripwire, it might be time for string or wire control, also.)

  • Sometimes I just love you, TastyBits.

Totally overblown. Bombs don’t kill people. People kill people. After all John Lott was on the radio today talking about how people were safer in areas where people were allowed to carry bombs. So, let’s give all of our teachers bombs so that we can know that our kids will be safe.
