Well, I splurged a bit on our dinner last night. Here’s our menu:
Filet mignon
Alaskan king crab
Baked potato
Field greens salad
German chocolate cake
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before but I regulate the quantities we eat very carefully. Although what we ate was quite sumptuous, the quantity we ate was quite modest. We split a small filet between us, had a crab leg each, and split a baked potato between us.
We also gilded the lily by opening a bottle of Robert Mondavi 1982 Cabernet Savignon we’d bought shortly after we were married. We opened it with some trepidation—twenty-three years is a long time for a bottle of wine, even a good Cabernet. It was fantastic. Fresh, clean, wonderful palate. A beautiful bottle of wine.
