My Mom

My youngest sister has been engaged in a real labor of love. She’s been scanning the enormous trove of slides that my dad took between roughly 1940 and 1968. My dad had a good eye and was a skilled amateur photographer who did his own developing, enlarging, and processing. Expect to see some of his pictures here from time to time. I suspect that his travel slides, particularly those of Mexico when they visited there in the late 1940’s, may be of general interest.

This is one of the fruits of her labor. The picture above is a picture of my mom taken 65 years ago before my mom and dad were married. In this picture she was in her early twenties. You can click on it for a larger image.

Nothing has been done yet to the image. This is exactly the way it scanned. I may edit out some of the flecks and scratches but I think it’s in pretty good condition.

    Yes, great picture!

I’m facing a similar situation with my father’s extensive slide collection and am wondering if you know what kind of slide-scanner your sister used?

  • She used a Canon 8800F.

I can see why he married her; she has the same smile my wife does.
