The Council Has Spoken!

The Watcher’s Council has announced its picks for the most outstanding posts of the preceding week. The winner in the Council post category was JoshuaPundit’s “A Spectator at the Orgy”, a post on the influence and implications of the professional media on the presidential election. Second place honors went to Hillbilly White Trash for “The gap between the media’s version and the actual truth grows wider”, on a related theme.

The winning non-Council post was Iowahawk’s “Balls and Urns”, an amusing primer on margin of error. Considering that most journalists and lawyers haven’t taken a math course since junior high school I tend to find the commentary of the pundit class, so many of whom are journalists and lawyers, on political polls uninteresting. I tutored too many social scientists in statistics to take even the most knowledgeable among them particularly seriously. Second place honors went to Winds of Change’s “The Newspaper Crash of 2009… And How You Can Help”. I voted for both of the winning posts, indeed, my vote put Iowahawk’s post over the top so I’m gratified at this outcome.
