Ahmadinejad letter to Bush now online

An unofficial translation of the letter from Iranian president Ahmadinejad to President Bush is now online.   Hat tip:  Associated Press.  I suppose it would be unfair at this point to characterize the Iranian president as Iran’s version of Dale Carnegie.

I do find it ironic in the light of Dean’s post from yesterday that Mr. Ahmadinejad’s lead argument is to wonder whether one can be a good Christian and order the things that the United States has done over the last several years.

More when I’ve digested the letter.

UPDATE: The letter is a wide-ranging list of grievances including the invasion of Iraq, the existence of the state of Israel, political autonomy in Latin America, poverty in the United States. Outside of jabs there doesn’t seem to be a great deal here.

This is the first official communication between the government of Iran and the government of the United States in more than a generation. Is it a start? I’d say a pretty lousy one.
