Yesterday my mom submitted her StoryCorps entry interviewed by my eldest sister. StoryCorps is a nationwide project to record first-person life stories. You may occasionally hear them on NPR. The recordings will be archived at the Library of Congress (along with the Ark of the Covenant).
If anyone has a life story to tell it’s my mom. Born almost literally in a trunk, in vaudeville with her parents as a very young child, a teenager in the Depression of the 1930’s, the first person in her family to graduate from college, raising a family, a young widow, and so much more. I’ve written about her before.
If you’ve got a life history you want to share or know someone you’d like to interview, think about doing a StoryCorps recording.
I think the StoryCorps Project is a GREAT thing. I hope your Mom’s applicationis approved. I heard they had like 10,000 applications here in Seattle for only 150 openings.
I’ve started a blog patterened after StoryCorps and if your Mom, or you, or anyone else wants to participate please feel free…no applications…no waiting. http://interviewyou.blogspot.com
