Catching my eye: morning A through Z

Here’s what’s caught my eye this morning:

  • Guest blogger “Lola Candela” on Babalu Blog disapproved of the 60 Minutes segment on Elian Gonzales last night.
  • Bird’s Eye View has a review of the world premier of John Adams opera Doctor Atomic, based on the life of Robert Oppenheimer.
  • August Wilson, one of America’s greatest playwrights has died. Bloggledygook provides a fine obituary. More from Booker Rising.
  • Aziz Poonawalla of City of Brass notes that today is the first day of Ramadan. Over on Dean’s World he reflects on fasting.
  • Lance Mannion has a nicely written and fervent post on being a yellow-dog Democrat.
  • Well, it’s nice to see that somebody isn’t making obeisances to the Saudis:

Iraq’s interior minister on Sunday took a swipe at Saudi Arabia, telling the government in Riyadh to look its at own problems instead of lecturing Baghdad.

n an unusual outburst against the Saudis, Bayar Jabor, the Iraqi minister, dismissed recent remarks by the Saudi foreign minister about growing Shia power in Iraq as unacceptable interference in Iraqi affairs by a “dictatorship” and a “Bedouin riding a camel.”

    Hat tip: Mark in Mexico.

  • A guide to anti-war protestors from Nadz Online. Almost too true to be funny. But funny.
  • Walid Phares of The Counterterrorism Blog analyzes the Bali attacks.
  • The Fourth Rail notes that the fightin in Operation Iron Fist in Iraq has moved from Sada to Karabilah.

That’s the lot.
