Where Did It Come From?

Nicholas Wade posts what is to my eye a pretty fair assessment of the two main theories of the origin of COVID-19&mash;natural emergence and accidental escape from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. I recommend you read the whole thing but here’s a snippet:

Natural emergence was the media’s preferred theory until around February 2021 and the visit by a World Health Organization commission to China. The commission’s composition and access were heavily controlled by the Chinese authorities. Its members, who included the ubiquitous Dr. Daszak, kept asserting before, during and after their visit that lab escape was extremely unlikely. But this was not quite the propaganda victory the Chinese authorities may have been hoping for. What became clear was that the Chinese had no evidence to offer the commission in support of the natural emergence theory.
This was surprising because both the SARS1 and MERS viruses had left copious traces in the environment. The intermediary host species of SARS1 was identified within four months of the epidemic’s outbreak, and the host of MERS within nine months. Yet some 15 months after the SARS2 pandemic began, and a presumably intensive search, Chinese researchers had failed to find either the original bat population, or the intermediate species to which SARS2 might have jumped, or any serological evidence that any Chinese population, including that of Wuhan, had ever been exposed to the virus prior to December 2019. Natural emergence remained a conjecture which, however plausible to begin with, had gained not a shred of supporting evidence in over a year.

As I said, read the whole thing.

I’m a bit surprised that a class action suit has yet to be filed suing the Chinese government, the U. S. government, and Peter Daszak and Anthony Fauci personally. Maybe there has. The standard of proof of such trials is “preponderance of the evidence” which would seem to support the plaintiffs. I would think that anyone who’s been harmed by the virus would have standing.

The whole god damned thing has been part kabuki, part smoke and mirrors, all with horrible motives.

I’m not a litigious guy, but sue everyone. Sue all these filthy fuckers.

    The article is well written.

In my mind, the location aspect is the puzzle. The analogy is if a mysterious new pathogen first appears in Atlanta, home of the CDC, what would most people think?

I didn’t realize until this article that Fauci and Collins were directly involved in funding gain-of-function research at the WIV.

As for learning lessons to reduce risks in the future. It won’t happen. Collins, Fauci, the NIH now have the same incentives as the Chinese government with respect to the virus origins, gain of function research etc (this is very clear from how Daszak is behaving). Given Fauci is now the President’s chief medical advisor, the WH will try to bury these matters as well.

    Wow.

    Serious matter.
With the two most powerful governments in the world sharing an interest in obfuscation, serious journalism would seem to be in order.
Covering a coverup clouded by technical language is a challenge but talented wordsmiths should be able to give the story legs.
On the other hand, simply tying the laboratory as source story to Trump’s own similar statements would be enough to kill it.
Leaving aside the important discussion of viral evolution the nugget here is that research at the Wuhan lab was funded by the NIH.
That alone should make the public sit up and take notice.

And possibly, Fauci should be shot.

Fauci’s, Daszak, Collins, members of the NIH – all of them opportunists, having vested interests in the current slew of vaccines quickly created to address the sudden emergence of a “deadly” virus. Such a vaccine normally takes years of clinical trials before being considered safe enough to be introduced to the public. Only the application of an emergency use act can circumvent the time needed to assess long term side effects of a new vaccine. And, such an act can only be used if there are no other remedies available in which to treat infected people. This is why several inexpensive, already FDA-approved anti virals were vociferously discredited by Fauci, the media, Lancet and others, opening the way forward to experimental, non FDA-approved messenger RNA vaccines.

Consequently, when you follow the money, connect the colluding dots involving the origination of the COVID virus, politics, greed, and questionable medical practices I tend to see this pandemic as contrived and far from being a natural phenomenon. BTW, one pharmaceutical, alone, is said to make $24 billion from the vaccine in 2021.

Lets try to separate vaccines from viral origins. It is possible to praise one’s role in one aspect aspect while being critical in the other.

The NIH, Fauci, and Collins did a great job in investing in mRNA and other vaccine technologies over the last 30 years.

Using Occam’s Razor, it came from a laboratory.

Link goes to a much better, more detailed piece on origins. Very long.

“This is why several inexpensive, already FDA-approved anti virals were vociferously discredited”

Because they didnt work. They still dont. There was almost no reason to believe that they would work, but they got extensive trials anyway. We wasted time, money and probably lives all because a political actor promoted them.

  • Although the ultimate conclusion of the post to which you linked, at least to my eye, is that there’s no way to tell, this passage restates my point:

Any mutation can arise naturally, and even if the amino acid insert that had created the furin site in CoV2 was not “PRRA” but “MADEINWVHANPRRA”, there would still be a non-zero chance that it arose by accident. But for us, and for any court, I think this would be enough to prove lab origin beyond a reasonable doubt.

If the remains of the Chinese rocket expected to crash over the weekend does so in a populated area of the U. S., I would expect that the lawsuit dam will break.
