We’ve added this album to our regular playlist this Christmas.
Here’s some of the rest of what we listen to:
Vince Guaraldi/A Charlie Brown Christmas
Edward Wright/Christmas Guitar Solos
Waverly Consort/A Renaissance Christmas
Kim Robertson/Celtic Christmas (Irish harp)
I was wondering about that, given your musical background.
Merry Christmas!
Great choices! I think the Celtic Christmas was a gift from me. Nice to know you both are enjoying it. We listened to some Irish music today also. Chieftains and a nice anthology of traditional Irish music groups. I think many traditional Christmas carols have common roots with Celtic music. I Saw Three Ships, While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks by Night, Angels We Have Heard on High, and many others run deep through my sometime Irish soul, especially when accompanied on penny whistle and Irish flute!
For us it was King’s Singers, Carols From Trinity, Corelli (lovely string quartet at church last night), Britten, Kings College, Chieftains and a collection of modern classics like White Christmas. Think the wife has at least half of all the recording of Once In Royal David’s City ever made.
Steve
Some New Orleans jazz/soul: Wynton Marsalis; Aaron Neville; Allan Toussaint and a collection entitled Chritmas in New Orleans.
Dave Brubeck is a nice fit with the Vince Guaraldi soundtrack.
Also, like the Chieftains, The Bells of Dublin, but have a big soft spot for the Jethro Tull Christmas Album from a few years ago.
