Why is Tom Steyer running for president?
- The House Democrats have not impeached Trump (that’s what he said)
- He’s dissatisfied with what the present Democratic candidates are saying about environmental issues
- He doesn’t think that Kamala Harris can cut it
- Because it is there
- Why not?
- It’s a consequence of the Law of the Conservation of Democratic Presidential Candidates. When one stops running, someone else must start running.

I would choose #B – he’s not satisfied with the current slate of candidates.
I want to see if how much money Mr Steyer spends for each vote he gets; and whether it can break Jeb Bush’s record.
He knows he’s not going to win. And he’s not stupid. So it must be a desire to get a brief platform, and ego.
I think that once some people have reached a certain point they always think they can win.
B, the first phrase. He’s no more an environmentalist than Trump, he made his fortune in fossil fuels before he decided to get woke. I think he may have concluded that the current crop of Democratic candidates are too old, too stupid, pander too much, or are deluded. Plus a businessman won the last election, he’s a businessman, only from the left side of the aisle. The problem may be to convince the machine that he’s worth lying, cheating, and stealing an election for him. My bet is no, he’s too much of a wildcard for the machine, IMO the machine wants Harris and Warren, and if the convention as expected ends in a deadlock they’ll shove their pick down the throats of their voters.
