    Wow! Only 7 hospitals. Not sure how well that will generalize. Its small size does make it easier to see how difficult how reform of any size and kind will be. So many payers and so many interest groups.

    The most surprising thing in that article to me was that public support in the People’s Republic of Vermont for single-payor is not that strong. At best, a poll conducted by a single-payor advocacy group that explains the program to residents achieves 55% support. Normally that’s a level of support that can be lost as various compromises and details disappoint, but probably not Vermont because of size and cohesion.

    Low population and cohesiveness probably helps. Vermont is slightly more populous than Luxembourg, ie. pretty small.
