The Sociology of Iraq

No Carnival of the Liberated today. There just isn’t enough sufficiently interesting to have one. Call it a measure of the electrical problems, the general discouragement of the Iraqis, or that so many of the Iraqi bloggers have left Iraq but it’s darned quiet out there.

I did want to bring one post to your attention, however. Iraqi Konfused Kid has begun posting a translation of an article written more than 50 years ago by Ali al-Wardi, historian and father of Iraqi sociology, Glimpses in the Social History of Modern Iraq. To the best of anybody’s knowledge this hasn’t been available in English until now, so seize the opportunity to pick up some information on the background of the conflicts there.

Highly recommended.
