The Grey Lady vs. Donald Trump

Lest anybody be uncertain about it, I agree with a good deal of what’s in the New York Times’s editors’ diatribe against Donald Trump. I agree most with this passage:

But voters should be asking themselves if Mr. Trump will deliver the kind of change they want. Starting a series of trade wars is a recipe for recession, not for new American jobs. Blowing a hole in the deficit by cutting taxes for the wealthy will not secure Americans’ financial future, and alienating our allies won’t protect our security.

And I agree with their conclusion: Donald Trump shouldn’t be president.

Well, I just ran the numbers and Trump wants to give me roughly a hundred large in tax cuts between personal and corporate. Which I will happily spend in posh hotels and overpriced restaurants in Europe and Asia. My Benz is a 2104, so I’m thinking of buying a replacement in Germany and driving it around for a couple months. I assume that’s what Trump supporters want.

Or maybe a 2014. Unless I’ve been time traveling.

You’re really not paying attention. Trump is the only rational choice. Clinton will actually destroy this country by dragging us into a nuclear war. She is an unthinking sociopath with no foresight. She oprates by intimidation and thinks she can intimidate foreign leaders.

If you, yourself, are so thoughtless and uncaring as to vote for Clinton, you should leavebthe US.

Given that we’ve been in a recession almost nine years now, what fucking difference would it make?

If you really were a man of your convictions you could give that hundred large to charity. There is only one person preventing it. Only one.

But then, you’d have to be a man of your convictions.
